Gian was in a car accident on the night of June 5th. He was in a Ford Escape with his two cousins. Gian was in the back seat without a seat belt because the buckles had fallen through the seat. His cousin was driving around sixty miles per hour on Pounds Road near Mountain Park Elementary when he took a turn too sharp and skid into a tree. The impact broke most of Gian's chest and caused him to hit his head incredibly hard. He had serious bleeding and swelling in his brain. The doctors performed surgery to try to reduce his injuries but were unsuccessful. Due to bleeding and cranial swelling Gian unfortunately didn't survive through the weekend.

Gian died June 7th 2003 at 6:12 PM.

Gian's death shocked a community. None would have ever thought that his life would be taken away so suddenly at such a young age. His memorial mass was at St. Stephens Catholic Church on Tuesday June 10, 2003. Family and friends were present, as we all saw how much Gian really was loved and respected by so many.
