On April 27, 1986 Brett and Cindy Divido were blessed with the most precious gift, a son. Blake Raymond Divido was born and changed their lives forever. Brett gained his fishing/hunting buddy and Cindy gained that bundle of joy to nurture and love. He was the center of our lives until he shared that spot with his sister, Halie Pearl, who was born in 1991. Halie and Blake became the best of friends…..and shared a life time of memories together. On May 1st, 2003 our lives came to a screeching halt. The unthinkable and unimaginable happened….Blake was in an auto accident. It was a beautiful sunny day and he was on his way from the Central Education Center in Newnan GA to his high school, East Coweta High. It was 9:45 am and he was traveling on Parks Road with his friends behind him when his truck went off of the right side of the road, he over corrected and began to roll. He wasn’t buckled in…and was thrown from the truck. We were phoned immediately and were able to see Blake as they moved him from the ambulance into the life flight helicopter…. Surely this is a nightmare and we’ll all wake up!
Blake lived for 15 hours on life support at the Atlanta Medical Center. Fifteen long hard hours fighting for his life…..with many of his closest friends and ours lining the ICU halls.
Blake lived life to its fullest and shared his beautiful smile with everyone. He was a “giver” in a world of “takers”…. One of his best friends Brandon Jackson says that Blake was the knot that kept the guys together…..the “Good Tymes” guys. He’s so horribly missed by so many….as everyone who knew Blake was affected by his personality. So full of life…. His loves were girls, aggressive inline skating, hunting, fishing, canoeing, ocean boating (Ossabaw Sound), 4-wheeling, big trucks, Quik Silver clothes and MUDDING. He loved being with his friends! And with his family he loved exploring the Georgia barrier islands, riding 4-wheelers, camping, canoeing, ocean boating, bottle digging and hanging with the “social group” that loved him so.
Nothing can prepare a family for a loss like this. We not only lost Blake as a daily part of our lives but we lost the future as we are “forever changed”. God promises to hold Blake until we get there and we’re believers in Eternity! We’re sure that Blake’s heart lives forever in the heavens. God knew Blake’s beginning and his end just as he knew every hair on his head. As we attempt to grasp for some type of normalcy now we hold onto the fact that we’ll see him again. Please continue to pray for us as it’s only God’s grace that carries us now.
I miss you with every ounce of my being Blake….I was your biggest fan, mom. |
